who are you gonna listen to when you're lookin' for somethin' to do?

You know you're a member of the Warren family IF...

  • You constantly make Robot jokes
  • Quoting movie lines is a sport at which you must excell
  • You feel guilty asking Dad to buy something for you at full price
  • You had to start out with an AOL email address
  • You consider anyone who does not love The Princess Bride to be heathen
  • You have seriously considered investing in earplugs after being in the same room with Kristen, Dirk, and a football game
  • You would never dream of giving your child or niece/nephew anything but a chocolate cupcake on his/her first birthday
  • Every birthday is on a Tuesday or a Thursday
  • You sometimes have to say five or six names before getting the right person
  • You understand the importance of Assembly Lines
  • You know that saying "Big Pants" is worse than saying "Dummy"
  • You only know two shades of pink: Blush and Bashful
  • You have added or subtracted at least one rule from every game
  • You still have a few extra LEAKSTRONG bracelets
  • You can spell Feijoada
  • You're still holding a grudge because Shelley was the only one that ever got an EZ Bake Oven
  • It's normal to IM someone in the next room
  • When talking to Nathan, you try to dominate the conversation as much as possible, for fear he'll start talking about his band. Again.
  • You constantly have to recount how many people are in your immediate family
  • You used to think that saying N*Stink and Backwash Boys was playful
  • The children in the family have all threatened to take you to court over the Dreaded Wooden Spoon
  • It doesn't surprise you that John Caleb has edited Wikipedia
  • Your biggest earthquake fear is "What if Aubrey's shelves fall and all her teapots break??"
  • You tell Mom you want something, and the next day she'll have found it for $10 cheaper on Amazon or eBay
  • Annie is STILL the bride
  • Your mother knows more about the Internet than you do
  • You've gotten laryngitis from singing "Total Eclipse of the Heart"
  • Or you've ruptured an eardrum listening to it
  • You just might need to be taken to the ER if you ever saw Beth in a dress
  • Your father, husband, brothers-in-law, or sons-in-law have done most of the home improvements at your house
  • All the kids feel squeamish going into the pantry
  • You've called someone a "Miserable Vomitous Mass" or a "Warthog-faced Buffoon"
  • You once told a sibling that they weren't invited to your wedding
  • Calling Shotgun or Sideseat always meant war
  • People look at you funny when you ask them to throw something in the "lixu"
  • You've agreed with at least half of this list

Feel free to add more.

rofl. yes, the easy-bake oven grudge is alive and well.

I didn't see anything about coffee on that list. I'd have to add that the Warren clan members are all coffee snobs, and I don't know why they don't just hook it up to an IV and take it intravenously. :-)

This is of course added lovingly by a non-coffee drinker who laughed hilariously at the whole list. :-)

I think I'm supposed to be offended at something on that list, but now I can't remember what it was. So, I'll add:

you've sung "Happy Birthday" in Portuguese about 1,000 times, depending on how old you are.

you can sing the Fighting Irish fight song

you know that soy-bean paste vs. oatmeal creme pies is not an equitable matchup

you've been chased around the house by a Dad wielding a knife covered in ketchup

you've been asked by Dad the night before Mom's birthday, "Kids! What does she want??"

you can communicate better w/ Tim when he's in Ninja mode

you remember that Beth's nickname used to be "Ben"....and why it isn't anymore

you've ever heard Dirk sing the Barney song, and joined in

you thought that shredded wheat or milk toast was a 'treat' cereal

you refered to any chinese food as 'yucky stuff on rice'

you refer to all ex-boyfriends as bleep, and everyone (by context) knows exactly which 'bleep' you're talking about

you ever wished Mom didn't hate dogs so you could more easily dispose of the aforementioned yucky stuff on rice

I really think these lists should be written by the people with a little outside perspective, thus those who married INTO the Warren family.

Hopefully the format doesn't get messed up, but here goes...

You know you married into the Warren family (or maybe just married Anne) if:

- You can’t eat the food that you love simply because it doesn’t “look right”.
- Winning Trivial Pursuit is the sole standard of intelligence.
- You find yourself explaining to waitresses that even though they said orange coke they really meant Sunkist.
- You understand that even though the Chloraseptic directions say use UP TO 4 times per day, what they really meant to say was drink constantly for 24 – 48 hours.
- You no longer need to worry about words like “Suburban”, “SUV”, etc because everything bigger than a Honda Civic is just called “Truck”.
- You understand that the River Walk isn’t just the contaminated version of the “Lazy River” but is a certain someone’s favorite swimming pool.
- You’re resigned to the fact that you’ll never be able to live down an innocent mistake, even if you were just 5 years old at the time.
- You’ve learned that the sun is so bright in Texas that even the Christmas Trees need to wear bonnets.
- It is considered perfectly normal to call a field with a pile of picked pumpkins a “pumpkin patch”.
- You expect to receive emails from the "Grammar Gremlin" regarding your blog posts
- Every fall you hear the argument that Notre Dame is going to the National Championship, or should be going to the National Championship, or had the National Championship stolen, or regardless of their record really is the National Champion.
- You’ve heard the five previously stated arguments all in the same discussion.
- You’ve been told that the saying “Touchdown Jesus” isn’t just from a mural, it’s because every time Notre Dame scores a touchdown…Jesus is scoring a touchdown.
- Regardless of how likely it is that a player’s face was smacked by a semi, your spouse thinks they still look beautiful in those puke-green uniforms.
- You’ve been told that Lou Holtz is probably the most intelligent sports broadcaster God has ever given us, just because he predicts Notre Dame will go to the National Championship EVERY year.
- You think repetitive Notre Dame jokes are hilarious when before you were married you thought they were just beating a dead horse.
- You’ve learned that not only can chicken nuggets be made to look like dinosaurs but that chocolate syrup is a condiment for cereal.
- You know that “Big Cokes” has nothing to do with Coke, but has everything to do with Dr. Pepper.
- Your spouse is confused by the previous question because they didn’t realize there was a difference between Coke and Dr. Pepper
- You’ve been told that AOL is the solution to all your computer problems…when in fact, it is what causes all of your computer problems.
- Judging by the quantities imbibed, you assume that either coffee or diet soda is healthier than water.
- You’ve been told that Las Palapas is the best Mexican restaurant in San Antonio and season 3 of the Office was the most best ever! (har har har).
- You know that finding Kristen in a Target has nothing to do with calling her cellphone…but everything to do with the volume of her voice.
- You’ve observed the strange phenomenon of the standard laptop lifetime of 4 years, magically reduced to 2 or less.
- You’ve seen people run “phantom” errands, just so they can stop by Sonic or Taco Cabana.
- You email your blog posts to your spouse for “approval” before you can post them.

Big C, you are the weeeener! I am laughing so hard my sides hurt! Though, I must say, I do not resemble any of those remarks.

Yep, Caleb's definitely a keeper :-)

if TONTO (The ONtological Treaty Organization) was a choice on your ROTC exam question regarding international treaties...you were probably taught be someone who wasn't homeschooled.

Caleb, you have insight beyond your years. I'm still crying I laughed so hard. And BTW, this year ND will NOT win the championship, be in the hunt for it, have it stolen, or otherwise be mentioned in the same breath.

Anne said...

Dad, how can you give up so easily??

and yes, i resemble most of that list.
