Cheer, Cheer for ol' Notre Dame!!

Can I get a 'Whoop Whoop' for the Blue & Gold?!?! ND has won two road games in a row and gone from being unranked to (hopefully) number 12 or 13, not to mention the sweet joy of beating the Michigan Wolverines who we hate almost as much as USC. Only ten more games to go, and my money says they'll take it to the national championship this year! Anyone else care to wager?

ND has not started 2/ 0 with two road games since Nute Rockney which hold a lot of promise. But realistically, they have the toughest schedule in all college football and the fire power of USC, the offense, and their speed on defense is why USC is ranked number one and just might stay there for the season...

And really Mr. Vic of Virginia Tech has a much more supportive cast offensively than ND does. Not to mention a lot of pressing is being put on a second year ND starter / running back!

And all the Heisman hopefuls you'll not find ONE ND player.

Not sure I see the constellation of reality with ND having the ability to come back after being tromped by USC the last three years.

This household does hope they play for the Roses come January but we'll need additional play makers to show up for ND.

OK...stop throwing tomatoes! Just adding a touch of reality.

The spelling gremlin will only comment to the above post w/, "That's KNUTE Rockne". ND has historically had one of, if not the, toughest schedules year in and year out. My two cents are VaTech will falter down the road; USC's run will end in between weeks 4 and 7; Texas will fall to the OU buzzsaw; LSU will run out of adrenaline; and ND just might, might, end up 11-0 on Rose Day.

As I said, this household hopes ND plays for the Roses!

And the spelling gremlin, well, business is good these days with all these posts... :)

Whoa there, Papa. If the Matriarch can hold her tongue on spelling issues, you sure can! (Well, except for with Shelley and Bethany, as they're still my students and it's hard to withhold the red pen, but even there, I'm trying!) If not, you are assuming the risk of becoming the next target.

Now if the fam wants to offer me a job previewing all posts for spelling errors, I'm sure it would be lucrative on this end. Otherwise, I submit that we save our fire for really egregious mistakes such as the misspelling of Notre Dame or the use of subjective pronouns following a preposition :)

And CJ, good for you! Nice to see some activity on this board again!

I was screaming and yelling at the TV yesterday -- ahhh, football season! I live for this. And yes, I smell the roses too.

Um, CJ? I don't think so... It was MY post. And I apologize if I offended any USC fans (not really), but I sometimes forget that family members aren't the only ones reading...

Lyric said...

Ah...gosh, thought I was a family members!

And just to clarify - I never stated I was a USC fan. In fact, I stated I hope ND plays for the Roses. My comments about the challenge in front of ND was simply for the sake of dailogue, I've got two sons who are HS football coaches and if I want to connect during this season I know what my options are!

Who would believe that this many women in our family care to converse about the pigskin?? Ain't life grand?!

Lyric said...

ALERT! ALERT! ALERT! ALERT!

Notre Dame is a top-10 team for the first time in three years!!

Reports ESPN... :)

Johanna said...

Ouch. Well... if my mom and Cathi are first cousins... doesn't that make us family? Either way, the Murphy/Kidd households have always loved ND. I didn't know it was in the blood... ;)

Lyric said...

Well, Kristen, we are women that can both cook the pork AND talk about the pigskin! :) Aren't our families blessed! LOL

Anne said...

No no, what I meant by 'only family members' was the members present when we were AT Notre Dame - sorry for the confusion, you all are very much family!! Big Hugs!!

Anne said...

Don't worry Lyric, just because I don't bleed Gold or Blue Anne labels me the "family embarrassment".

"Go Hokies!"

Kristen said...

Oh, Caleb...thaaat's why you're the family embarassment. That had never been cleared up for me. And I'll have everyone know that a certain husband of mine (I'd like to be discreet here) plans to root AGAINST said Blue and Gold next week while they run all over some Huskies. If you know the man of whom I speak, pray for him please. He's extremely misguided.

Anne said...

I know this man of whom you speak... Btw, who's that handsome devil with you in the picture?

Oh, how we so quick to forget. Who fired their coach only after Three years of a Five year contract? Where are the fans who were so upset and hope that ND would feel the pain of their unfaithulness? I see this future game against Washington more as an inter-squad game since one coach will have coached almost all the players on the field. I am still shocked and deeply sadden by ND conduct and all I can say is GO DAWGS!

Well, "Cheer, Cheer for Annie" for starting the thread that's gotten the most traffic in a long while! (And apologies from me for thinking that it was CJ--I should have known that this kind of commitment to ND is much more likely in the A team who actually went to games in person and cheered for the Irish!) We're nothing if not passionate about our football :-)

ARGGHH! This is the worst time of the year for me, all you rabid football fans (DH included--anyone heard from him that the Steelers won?) and Baseball season still in full swing (did anyone know that the Cardinals are in first place?). IM GOING THROUGH SPURS WITHDRAWL!

Kristen said...

Um, for a non-football fan, Aub sure likes to brag a lot about certain teams....kind of like FANS do!

dirksgirl said...

Are you kidding? I was letting you know the stats of DH's teams b/ THATS ALL I HEAR ABOUT RIGHT NOW! Texas, ND, Steelers, Cardinals, yada, yada, yada...

Anne said...

Aub: don't fight it, embrace it. And where were you all those years in Indiana? Don't tell me dad wasted the good tickets on you only to have you despise the sport. Remember how I always got stuck going to the Purdue games? Yeah that hurt.

dirksgirl said...

As I recall, I GAVE UP my ticket the last year we were at ND. I had way more fun selling hotdogs than sitting there, freezing, and cheering for a team whose sport I didnt love or understand. I did enjoy wearing the sweatshirts...

Kristen said...

Maybe we were wrong all along, and it was AUBREY who was adopted, not Annie. Sorry for that confusion your whole life Annie, I'll make it up to you somehow. After all, blood runs thicker than the pathetic tears of football haters.

Anne said...

Finally, vindication!!

dirksgirl said...

Thanks Shane! You can be on my team anyday. Not so sure about those "sisters" of mine. GO Spurs GO!!

Anne said...

Silly Spurs fans... can't you wait your turn?

Kristen said...

Ambient noise? Did I hear you right? Because when you open up your mouth, all I hear is "Whah, whah, whah".

what i want to know is: why do i get accused of posting contraband in the form of eisley but annie's allowed to post a pic of nd? i like football but eisley should be just as important on this blog. who agrees with me?
probably no one because you all hate eisley

Anne said...

No sorry Suze, this doesn't apply. Notre Dame was a real and important part of our FAMILY life for three good years. I doubt anyone can say the same about Eisley :-)

Anonymous said...

yeah........well....so?.....

Kristen said...

You should be a bit embarasseed, Shane, that you can not distinguish baby noises (Wa wa wa) from the noise of Charlie Brown's teacher (whah whah whah).

Kristen said...

Shane, you should know. Is your neck sore from craning yet???

Anne said...

and kristen experiences frequent nose bleeds because of the thinner air 'up there'. don't worry kris, you're not alone.
